Are we getting season 2 after the movie or just the movie

After the movie but no date announced and I don’t expect one until probably end of the year.

So this movie seems to be a direct sequel to Season 1, does that mean it’ll be necessary for Season 2 whenever that drops?

for the producers of the anime yes the Japanese people are the ones who decide if its good

considering how much advertising was done they must have spent a s*** ton of money on marketing. The Japanese people thought the anime wasnt good and voted with their wallet. If the show was a unabashed financial success then they wouldn't have bothered making these stylistic changes for the movie lol

So the last chapters basically confirmed that Yoshida was working for Barem/the weapons since the beginning of part 2 ("I belong to an organization that's tasked with keeping an eye on you") then allied with Fami to fund the Church (he was the fake Chainsaw Man on TV). Also infiltrated Public Safety (going from civilian hunter in part 1) to set up Nayuta's death and then betray them at the end of Aging arc.

Yeah, Denji whole thing in Part 2 was not being CSM and his power had steadily been growing weaker. Yoshida and Barem was tasked to make him mentally weaker in order to defeat death through Pochita controlled CSM. That’s why I interpreted the line “we both drew the short straw” to mean that their deaths were part of the plan.
