For me it was the opposite. At first I found the show fairly innocent/goofy, but as the story progresses it turns out to be something complex, dark, subversive and even profound. It became of one my favorite animes oat after the Chimera Ant arc.

Never watched. I’m not a faithful anime fan, I just watch what looks dope to me. Judging by trailers, I probably wouldn’t watch JJk and gurren Laggan looks alright but seems a little youthful for my taste

I’m truly just not a fan of shonen tropes and writing but will tap in if the concept is dope enough (OPM for example)

Also a sucker for great animation and art style

Hunter x Hunter starts strong at least.I slowed down at hero tower arc but its supposed to have some of the best fights so I may pick it back up

Also one piece is really an epic and has some tropes but isn’t really comparable to any other series . This is for the “1000” episodes of tropes post . It’s a long show though so i will always get the hesitation
