Damn the Thug verse is trash my GOAT is really washed
I was gon say I’d if it’s trash but it’s forgettable as f***
This album + the recent barrage of great hip-hop albums got me thinking that Big Sean’s Better Me Than You would’ve been received a lot better if it had released this summer rather than last

Tree is actually really good Im afraid I was trippin
Catchy hook paying homage to India.Arie while calling out cacs, you’ve seen the light
Chance not only looking at his own failures on this record, but also that of his peers, his kin, and most surprisingly his faith.
Album has the right tone, he really came back with a solid solid project.
Mad he’s only 32 tbh, 6 years out aswell
Still young enough to go on a crazy run
Still young enough to go on a crazy run
Never too late to go on a crazy run stay inspired brother.
Really sad Chance had to fall off so far to get to this album.
I remember working in a cocktail bar at his peak and this old white couple came in excited af they were on their way to see him live 🤣 I thought bro was gonna be MJ level fr

to be fair to Chance, he's an independent rapper, MJ needed the labels.
and it wouldn't have taken much of a fall off quality wise for the 'Chance is trash' narrative to start, and he has no machine to combat them, just himself and his team.
Might sound like a conspiracy, but I'm sure there are some people behind the scenes who never wanted Chance to achieve anything in the game, and they need the next generation of artists to feel like no matter how big your career gets without a label, in the end, you will be a laughingstock for trying.

I don't think there's any kind of grand conspiracy with his career.
He had an amazing manager that made all the right decisions. The nature of Chance's music always left him on a tightrope of cool and corny and his manager helped keep the balance. When he stopped listening he went full corny.
Now he's back in the balance but without the good team to work the music how it needs to be worked.
I feel like Chance could be the Common of our generation
Hopefully he’s stays inspired through his 30s

Letters hits every single damn time
No More Old Men is the one
Just meaning that’s such a random connection to make lol
I feel you. It just feels like this summer there’s been a lotta well received, high quality rap albums from blog-era stars, and it feels like they’ve all been a lot more mature in content and tone than mainstream rap has been overall this decade. Better Me Than You is right in line with them, and I think it would’ve gotten more attention and praise if released alongside this crop of albums

Song been heat since day one. Hook is hard

And now I’m listening to the Sean album thinking damn not bad.
