oh s*** i don’t keep up with grammys like that ever since 1989 malarkey but if drake ain’t dropping then nothing else gonna beat it. blinding lights literally one fo the biggest songs ever and it’s one of the biggest albums of the year
Blinding Lights will sweep, but Folklore got it in the bag. That album was designed to do two things: get critical acclaim from reviews and win a s*** ton of awards.
Sadly, The Weeknd will always be looked down as that guy who sings about being awful and shallow to women. Even though After Hours is completely different then his early work and follows a relatively clear narrative (that somehow majority of the critics ignored or did not realize existed), most negative reviews of it said the album sounded great but same old Weeknd lyrics.
Thought it was gonna be the instrumental or acapella
jesus
lol this Guitar sounds so samba influenced

none of them are pop so this doesn't make any sense lmao.
but yeah, the outros are crazy
Anyone feel like this album suffers from The Weeknd's vocal performance on it? The best part of his music has always been his angelic sounding voice but it sounds very robotic on this album. And there are many parts in the songs where he's not singing at all and it's just the instrumental doing most of the work. He sounds more monotone than ever too.

The songs are not pop because is not formulaic, but The Weeknd is a popstar, so that is what i meant.
Weekly reminder that Escape From LA still hitting at 3 AM
This whole comment is a vibe. Fitting for those insta pages that post those twitter quotes/screenshots. Tom the cat only makes it better.

it's easily my AOTY but I somewhat agree with this. the production carries it. his singing is a bit too nonchalant. you might say that it's an artistic choice but imo if he was singing like he was on Trilogy, Kiss Land, or even BBTM it would probably his best album.

Alone Again suffers from this for sure yeah, his decision to muddy his vocals on it prevent it from being a goat intro imo
