at the time they definitely were. Those are very mainstream pop sounding songs and they had huge mainstream pop singers on them as well.
Every 50 hit pretty much sounded like a 50 beat until Ayo Technology, which wasnt that big a hit relative to those 2 from Tip

A switch in the usual sound don’t mean the style isn’t clearly that of a 50 beat. None of these songs had any pop crossover elements to them like live your life, my love or dead and gone did
