KTT2's favorite music publication has tapped in and they are fed up.
F*** em bro
Alternative facts! There would be no Brat without Crash!
nah, crash was a misstep and didn't need to exist for this album to exist. brat is simultaneously going back to her roots and embracing recent Y2K revivalism and aughts dance music in a tasteful way, crash was just "haha im selling out now so here's some mid yall but it's ironic amirite" at least that's how the marketing came off to me, and the music was definitely mid. with brat on the other hand the joke is not about the music itself this time around, and it shows]
i liked a handful of songs off crash don't get me wrong but even on those i would've preferred more innovative/interesting production
imagine if she dropped Brat 2
relistened to CRASH today. my thing with that album is, if the point was to "sell out" and do it BETTER than the others...then it was a failure imo. the music wasn't good enough. i find it hard to believe she'd try to make less than Charli-level music, although we've seen that in the past with other artists who struggled with their labels. idk but yeah. it's easily her worst material post-Vroom Vroom to me.

idk why she chose some songs with super weak choruses for single release.
tbf i think peoples perception of it is skewed by the fact that HIFN came before. when in reality the Crash stuff was first conceived of immediately after Charli album in late 2019 and she paused work on it to put together the covid era HIFN album. cant help but feel like the vision for the final finished Crash probably went through a lot of changes in what it was supposed to be so the result is weaker than her more focused projects
it ends up just feeling weird to have Crash sandwiched between HIFN and Brat. still a good album for sure imo and Constant Repeat and Lightning are top tier Charli
also Crash has some surprisingly good leaks, a few songs definitely better than many of the songs that made the album

i always let the good ones gooOOOoooOoOooOooOOoooOOo
i feel you, tho ngl my hot take is that HIFN is her most overrated project
i like it still, some great songs on there

DELETE THIS!
It’s so funny that pitchfork unironically see themselves as a the zeitgeist of music opinions when they are the ones who literally change album scores based off the general consensus
Next Level Charli is still her best intro I think.
pink diamond very close second though
Awesome to see this album really resonating with people. Full of hits. She deserves the success!
