actually you know what i was reading comments on the video earlier and i sympathise a lot more with her now after cringing at all the kids demanding she make 'hyperpop' forever more.

whatever about what you think of the rollout for crash (and i definitely have a few issues with the singles even if i think they have all been p catchy on some level) i can never countenance demanding an artist pigeonhole themselves just cos you like that sound more. i think this entire album has been very self aware and knowing and an interesting 'reclamation' of big pop music sounds/aesthetics. it's hardly some big pivot or legitimate 'sell out' for somebody in and around the industry for years who has penned loads of more conventional pop hits to think actually i would like to dive into that world myself a bit more now that i have a little bit more freedom to do so. and again i can definitely vibe with that now after what nearly a decade since sucker was very much pushed in a particular direction that she wasn't comfortable with.

idk man, i just think let artists explore this stuff. they're not going away, they're in too deep with the 'hyperpop' crowd, they're not abandoning that totally and attacking them for doing so is just gonna push them further from it imho
