With the news and speculation being made about the connection of UMG Drake and Gamma, these lines off Push Ups are sounding ominous...

Like your label boy you in a scope rn - obviously a play of words off Interscope records, Interscope however is under the UMB Umbrella, this ties in to the following line as well

And you gon feel the aftermath of what I write down - Aftermath was famously Dr.Dre's label also under the UMG Umbrella, recently Dr.Dre sold some of his catalog to you guessed it, UMG

    google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://variety.com/2023/music/news/dr-dre-selling-catalog-universal-shamrock-1235486661/amp/&ved=2ahUKEwiq9JaKxMyFAxVdHjQIHZnoAWsQFnoECCEQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2Ka5xXkEN6344P_bVxcTrF

I'm at the top of the mountain so you tight now, just to have this talk with yo ass I had to hike down - Drake implies Kendrick may be upset at his placement due to jealousy, when talking about the difference between their business acumen, there is a night and day difference, the next line is what truly makes things scary...

Big difference between Mike then and Mike now - Drake again connects off Kendrick alluding to Drake being Mike Jack and he being Prince, Drake agrees that he is Mike now however there's a big difference, whereas Mike then who was known to purchase artists catalogs, publishing, etc, would return such things in show of artistic unity, Drake may not be in the same mind frame, if Kendrick persists Drake may or may already have purchased or is financially tied to Kendrick's catalog, he may be dangling his ability to buy Kendricks catalog, some of it has already been obtained by UMG, this could be the quote un quote nuke may have referred to, Drake in the lyrics could be making a powerful statement

This is definitely all speculation and would have crazy ramifications for the music industry if true, but if this is the nuke, I wouldn't mess with this Drake AT ALL, he's the boogeyman fr in the industry

Doesn't mean Dot can't still have a crazy song in response, I don't expect him to just die, but damn, what could you say if Drake pulls the big joker out, I own your music, any time it's played I make bread... Checkmate

Most of the Mike’s then and now explanations make little sense to me.. some people trying to tie in Mike Tyson wtf. Let’s for a second assume it’s MJ for continuity of the king/prince bar, etc. What would be the differences between Mike then and now.. I like OPs theory for now

Y'all are gonna say this is glazing but it is what is, if this is true, we've been listening to this niggas music wrong the WHOLE TIME, the fact he can skillfully weave in complex, double, triple entendres and meanings with a simple line like Drop and give me 50, or different between Mike then and Mike now, he truly is one of the greatest ever

It's hard for me imagine that this isn't an uppercut, haymaker, people praised Jay for doing this after his beef with Nas, if Drake has this in the tuck and presents this in a musically interesting way, I don't see how the people will say Drake loses

  • Drake legally owning To Pimp a Butterfly and Good Kid Mass City would be the joke of the decade

You missed my point completely. Do you want owning someone’s else art without their permission being considered a win? Like this is what you are arguing for…

I get your point big dawg, if you read my earlier post I said this would have crazy ramifications for the music industry if true, the precedence set would be slimy, I would love a good clean fight as much as the next guy, but being real the eyes of hip hop are on this, for pride alone niggas will do anything not to lose, if this is something Drake did to win this battle, he would win is all i'm stating, just the same how people are calling on Kendrick to dig up any salacious dirt they can on Drake for Kendrick to win

Forsure I get you. Cause I also don’t know if counts as a win in the long term. Cause you can easily answer why everyone teaming up againstDrake with well he was sneaking behind everyone’s back to get a piece of their pie. Because at that point, he’s not a rapper anymore he’s just another sleazy record exec. Feel like he is picking the wrong side here.

I see you, in all honesty it could be merely threats, tough talk, or playing to some larger move in music, if Drake did this the music industry would shift into dangerous territory some would revere Drake as this generations Hov, others would revile him as some bad super evil industry demon nigga, both sides could make compelling arguments
