Anybody denying Chicago influence on UK drill is delusional

They added their own nuances but these tracks def sound like early versions of what UK producers are doing rn

i can concede the early s***, but we've been on a whole different wave for like 4-5 yrs

That's what I said earlier lol

Y'all developed your own distinct sound but it's roots are in chicago s***, and the lingo/subject matter

I think we both are basically saying the same thing tho

    UK poster here

The NY/UK scenes are almost entirely different from a social and musical approach.

It’s easier for NY artists to get signed and get fame, UK is too preoccupied with beef and snapchat gossip to get anything going properly.

I applaud our producers for doing the right thing and making the right moves, but there’s a few dudes over here who are still fire

It may be "easier" for NY artists to get signed, but normally once they do a big ol red target immediately gets thrown on their back for NYPD, rival gang, or even the regular hating broke nigga to use as target practice.

It's a gamble really. Normally as soon as Brooklyn Drill artists start popping off enough to start getting label attention, their past/environment and notoriety are already catching up.

    Edit: I cannot type today.

this nigga lit like they callin him for beats or something 😂

we get it you excited and proud about the Uk’s recent success, but stop saying blasphemous s*** just to get your point across.

the new drill s*** is cool, but it will age even worse than the chicago drill sound, enjoy it while it’s hot.

btw chicago the original drill sound, if you can’t respect that, then your opinion should never be taken seriously.

I’m not referring to legal history. I’m more talking about the marketability for artists in the US is also miles different (and better) than the UK. You can be a shooter and still get radio play and club bookings.

Try that here. It won’t work

If anything I’m just praising NY rappers and the wider US rap community for having little scenes where you can make money for yourself without having to go global. It’s dope
