Fast food meat is cheap because A) it's not all meat B) no standards for the animals or slaughterhouse workers (slaughterhouse workers have the same rates of suicide and PTSD and soldiers and are often poor minority workers) and C) govt. subsidies of 38 billion for animal agriculture (as of 2018)

Those standard are to trick the consumer into thinking everything is nice and rosey. You know what a farmer has to do to qualify his chickens as free range? They require one building with a roof, and door about the size of a dog door, and a roughly 20x20ft outdoor space they can walk around in. They are packed in there wing to wing barely any space to breathe. That's free range. Stuck in a dark warehouse for 16 weeks before slaughter. Normally a chicken will live 5-10 years.
