Not gonna post his video so he doesn't get the views, but Fantano gave this a lower score than BTI and Atavista after reacting positively to the album on stream for like 45 minutes.

One of the songs he explicitly said he liked a lot on the Twitch stream was listed as his worst song on the record

I like the guy as an entertainer, but dude has very little consistency. I find myself watching his fantano channel and skipping nearly every needledrop upload lol.

One of the comments on that stream reaction said something on the lines of “he liked every song on stream, meaning he’s gonna give it a 4 lmao” and it wasn’t far off

Album 100% a grower, and I think some of the tracks i’m less fond of will pop within the context of the film. I don’t entirely disagree with some of criticisms i’ve seen surrounding some of this being background/soundtrack music. Nothing wrong with that. With age i’ve grown to appreciate music that fills a room, but necessarily the mind

Also said that there's apparently another collaboration between the two that he hopes he'll be able to drop. Seems like he is still into making music, so maybe the "retirement" really is just him retiring "Childish Gambino" like he said. Perhaps going forward with any music he releases he'll be going by Donald Glover.

I’m not defending his review bc I havent seen it but tbf sometimes I enjoy an album on first listen and then listen again and realize I dont like it sometimes lol

That's fair, but it's weird af to see most of his complaints in the video be things he praises in the stream. Feels like they go beyond just a re-evaluation.

Dude talked about how much he liked the way the album flowed/transitioned, really dug the production, and even called songs like "Real Love" and "Can You Feel Me" cute and enjoyable - only for him to say the exact opposite in the review.

At the very least, if you have that much of a change, explain that it happened. Say you liked it initially and it wore on you after further listens - which he basically never does.

Feels like he made the change keeping views in mind. Cause after all, what's more likely to get more views? A positive reaction after spending years hating an artist, or continuing to stroke your hate boner to subscribers who became fans for how you trashed that artist in the past?
