The thing with tech advancing is that something has to suffer/be used for tech to improve (we been on a ticking timebomb since the Industrial Revolution)

I know AI can be used for good (a friend in cali helped play a crucial part in building tech that detects fires/fire zones before they happen) I just wish and/or hope we find a way to make it environmentally friendly nahmean?

I think what bugs me the most about the AI videos is that they are devoid of so much emotion and life. You can tell that he wanted there to be so much deeper impact and messaging in the Time and The Violence but you just can't achieve that when you place that responsibility in the hands of a machine. Something that cannot grasp the nuances and detail.

I also have no idea what the f*** is supposed to be going on in that Final Church video. But that s*** hurt my eyes and I don't even know if that's truly AI or not. I have no idea how it syncs up with anything in the music. It looks like it's supposed to be an animatic for something completely unrelated.

I've enjoyed the music that's come from 3.15.20/Atavista and Bando Stone & the New World. But all the s*** Donald has done and has been doing in regards to his album releases and promotion has been absolute dogshit, and at worst, a smack in the face to fans who have been putting up with it. Charging $250 for a boxset of your album with half of the tracks having some half-assed AI videos AND TAKING A FULL F***IN YEAR TO SHIP IT OUT is f***in atrocious.

There's still no word on that Bando Stone movie. I still don't even know what the status is of the vinyl I ordered. There's no word on new tour dates after he had to cancel the tour due to health. That's understandable, but damn nigga...this was supposed to be your swan song and a "thank you to the fans" and this is what we get?

There are kids in their bedrooms with one camera, one lens, a Mac mini & Adobe CC who are actually doing really fun and interesting things with Gen AI that aren't content reference slop

He's not doing this because of lack of resources or connections - it's simply a cost cutting feature and an act of anti art

I don't support AI art in general but even with AI there are still people putting forth some effort in the content they create using it. Those Time and The Violence videos are just lazy ass bullshit that makes people hate AI.

He has too much money to be using AI as lazily as it was in some of those videos that's really the issue. For somebody who has been such an advocate for AI being used in art, you'd think he'd put a lot of effort in showing the capabilities of it in his own work as a way to convince people to embrace it. All this did was make me hate AI in art even more.

Very simple answer: He's now a rich middle aged married dude with a family pretty much. At some point when you're that successful, you either continue to build upon your current/past work or just say f*** it and take the easier complacent route while still stacking up coin. Sucks to see, but for many in the entertainment industry that reach those career heights it's a depressing inevitability
