I'm a black American thats enough but to be clear I have the knowledge I just don't care.

In my mind when you look at the biggest rappers ever it ain't them it's us they weren't the ones fighting the Grammys to get Rap put on they wasn't fighting in the boardrooms and they wasn't creating the majority of the hot s***.

It's ours if the rest of em want credit make bigger stars

Thats like white men telling black men naw you ain’t help create america.

Fat joe grew up while hip hop was created in the south bronx living in forest projects kid literally saw the pillars create it. Hip-hop was a culture it’s not just rapping its graffiti break dancing mc’ing. To say that puerto ricans didn’t play a part was bananas. Kool herc or krs one would never co sign that. It’s always the light skin brother preaching the pro black s***. Yall forget a puerto rican was in the fat boys but let me stop i know ktt only wants to talk about mainstream side of the hip hop game i see half these internet cats lack the knowledge of where it came from or how it was created

Fat Joe was born in 1970 meaning he was 3 years old when hiphop supposedly started (some say 70-73 it definitely was a thing before that kool herc party) he wouldn’t know anything about hiphop more than me or you lmao when hiphop started it was black American youth break dancing and evolved into the break dancing that you saw the Puerto Ricans doing around 76-77 I have actual family who was there and old enough to remember and when you say the fat boys that was like 10 years after hiphop artist I know their whole history plus people who grew up with them in east New York I’m not saying Puerto Ricans wasn’t there but it was a thing before they got involved and I’ll help you there was Puerto Rican rappers in the cold crush and funky four plus one more back in the early 70s but even they’ll admit where they got it from and nothing wrong with bringing pro black

Lord Jamar just posted a video of actual breakers from that time admitting the black kids was doing it first are they lying?

    Yes?

you say folk who contributed nothing to hip hop should not have a say on who did then go on to decry backlash on non blacks saying nigga, you don't see the hypocrisy in that?

I gotta disagree with Chimp1 on this one

I am not a fan of Lord Jamar but I’m rocking with him over Fat Joe anyday. Fat Joe is a racist, he has mocked black people multiple times for not wanting him to say nigga its pure racism. I cannot rock with or condone Fat Joe

I love all of us but Lamar Jamar has some truth in a lot of s*** he says I watched guys like busta rhymes,Pete rock, talib p**** kewli krs one and others try to put us out of the making of hiphop their new s*** is hiphop was created by Caribbean and Latins which isn’t the full story don’t do that African Americans played a huge part in starting this hiphop s*** we are the voice of this s*** not to be on some cocky s*** , Joe called Jamar crazy because he said some s*** he doesn’t want to here but didn’t check talib or those other guys f*** you fat Joe

the fader switch on turn tables were literally created due to the trend of hiphop that was literally created n patented by jazzy jeffe and some other nigga, due to how they would transition records which was an evolved method of the carribean dj parties along with funk and jazz jam sessions. that is literally an american and hiphop invention.

and rap got the idea from sampling due to electronic genres that were starting to do it such as house and techno which also has black roots starting from the late 60s, well in america anyways, especially house and DISCO that popped up right before hiphop (also partly why real-real early rap in east n west are elctro influenced like Arabian Prince n Kurtis Blow n s*** like that, or Dr Dre original group before NWA the Wreckin Kru).

yeah the way Caribbeans would speak every now and then to engage the party as thyre mixing evolved into american rap vocal rhythms which then became the forefrona nd evolved. idk how puerto ricans fit into this tho outside of also just being around and some being the homies. but the niggas in that project are all the ones that put it ALL TOGETHER. idk how just because theres influences means its originality is negated.

hiphop basically took all these influences and created rap which became a basis and template in the 80s, after the early 70s of the djing parties and the later 70s of electro influences - and niggas from ny that were doing college parties brought it the south and west in that real early period (and why niggas like james brown literally mention the term "Rap"in this era before it was even a genre). such as digital underground that started out in ny before moving to oakland and it basically the basis of bayarea rap, as an example.

rap is basically funk, jazz and electro + disco mixed with the carribean "MCing" of DJ parties put together then EVOLVED to its own thing.

idk why some niggas act like influences negate the originality - and it also ignores a lot of how rap took these elements out of necessity and survival because niggas literally didnt have a music program to learn "proper" music nor "proper"singing, so "took" the next best things that resemble it. such as the MCing and sampling.

it is a further evolution and combination of multiple other black genres that was born out of struggle of legit poverty and having nothing to do due to their under developed and under funded area and schools.
