What do you think the US can do against China? China has 1.5 billion ppl fam Xi out here moving like Deebo

I’m not even saying they can or should take any drastic options, more pointing out how so many Muslim governments have turned their backs on the plights of Muslim people in exchange for money

You know whats absurd about the Uyghur plight, Ive seen many people choose not to believe its happening. I have a friend whos family left China 2005, according to him before it got really intense where he lived but he still suffered discrimination. Hes shared his story at some of the many classes Ive had with him at uni, and ive seen 2 situations where classmates denied his own experience right to his face

Strangest is how the professors just let it happen in both situations. I dont know if its common to have deniers for whats going on but Ive seen more denial than I feel I should. Ignorance and lack of information I understand, but why would you go out your way to say “I dont think its really as bad as youre saying it is” when my man lived through it

While thousands of unarmed muslims were being slaughtered and raped in Bosnia in the 90s, the world watched it all happen denying a genocide is taking place. The UN was literally there and did nothing about it.

Three years of this and eventually the US intervened and put an end to it (mostly thanks to Biden). I wouldn't be here if the world kept ignoring it, that's why it breaks my heart seeing it all happening again before our eyes.

I think that people aren't aware of the evil humans are capable of because they don't see it in their lives, so they choose not to believe it...

You’re technically right man but I don’t think this is the right place to have this conversation.
Like yes China is not a post-Marxist state ofc but the country was developed along an evolution of ideas where they at least considered themselves such “with Chinese characteristics”. There are lots of people online on places like Reddit and twitter who will defend China until the end of days who consider themselves such. I know they aren’t if you go by the book philosophically, but I don’t think it’s worth debating it in a context like this where it comes off more as deflecting imo.
I don’t want to start a fight or anything I just don’t think in this context its the right place to have this discussion, even if you’re technically right.

the best thing the US and other western countries can do is take strong economic action against China. this could begin with freezing debt (which would be massive), sanctioning officials, investigating domestic companies with strong ties to china (esp. those suppressing info about the uigurs), and de-incentivizing economic relationships by repealing trade deals and similar such things. I think this would go very far. Countries could also officially recognize Taiwan's independence.
However, I have to admit, I am not very hopeful about this. The US is in a bad position; on one hand, the country is ruled by the Dollar and companies ruled by inhuman demons would rather enable a genocide than lose a bit of profit yearly. On the other hand is a growing base of people who are so rapidly anti-US that they are okay with enabling genocide remotely as long as it "owns the patriots" or whatever. It is founded in a deep narcissism and inability to separate biases from current events. Similarly, in other countries, there are growing strong economic relationships with china which the countries feel is more important than preservation of morality; this can be seen in some eastern european countries, as well as some of Italy for example. I'll be the honest, many of these countries - the US and the EU, have to blame themselves for this, decades of divisive rhetoric has primed both of them to seek these types of economic relationships.
I will say the US should also be doing this to the Saudis for their genocide of the Yemeni people, among others. The US and other western countries have enabled many of these state actors, even if it is not the direct fault of these countries. Inability to condemn such and continued economic relationships as if nothing was wrong is a large foundation for why this is happening.
However, as I said, I cannot advocate war or similar. It is soul-crushing to think about the plight of these people and I hope this will be resolved.

This has been debunked a COUNTLESS amount of times. Please do your research.
There are things Modern China needs to be critiqued for, but this situation is not one of them.

Yo I just gotta say, I don't know if I agree with you on everything, but you're definitely one of my favorite posters in this section cause you always keep it real and give a comprehensive look at the situation being discussed, taking all perspectives into account. I respect that

I agree that the treatment of Uighurs is more important if that's what you're saying, but I'm not cool with people using it as just another reactionary talking point about how communism is evil and I'm not just gonna let people spread lies

China isn't communist but at the same time these accusations against them are false, of course the first thing anyone from the right is gonna say is ''Muh evil communists'' or ''communism is when government...'' and we both know how ridiculous these statements sound. Now regardless of the ignorant folk calling China a communist country, they're even more ignorant to believe this entire story.
