India is witnessing its worst-ever border tensions since the Kargil battle in 1999, with China bringing forward at least 5,000 troops along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh.
Transgressions have been reported at multiple locations in eastern Ladakh — three in the larger Hot Springs area and one in the ‘Finger’ area of Pangong lake.
Now, news agency ANI has reported that Chinese troops have moved in “nearly 10-15 km from the Indian post KM 120” in the Galwan Valley, and have pitched tents and stationed themselves close to the post. Post KM 120 lies on the strategic Shyok-Daulat Beg Oldi road whose inauguration last year caused much discomfort to China.
Whether Amerikukluxklana gets involved or not, this most likely won’t escalate into anything too serious
A few months ago I learned that India and Russia are apparently pretty buddy-buddy. As a total outsider idk the depth of this alliance. If anyone here is familiar with the dynamic, how likely is it that Russia throws some of its military might into this in support of India? Obviously it'll take more than 3 Indian military casualties.

Russia would rather ally with China but no war will break out from this

while the indian govt is more neutral, indian citizens have been fuming at china for awhile now. many indians never moved past the sino-indian wars. the recent issues with nepal's border were immediatedly blamed on china, and this comes after record negativity of china post-coronavirus from india too. BJP is largely nationalistic and its supporters think China is legitimately the devil. while the govt is neutral enough to probably not pursue anything, there are definitely a very large portion of indians bloodthirsty for china

I dont disagree but they are both nuclear powers so it will take more than border skirmishes for a hot war to break out

I don’t think the governments themselves would escalate it, I just think that a lot of the population would be overtly willing to. So many people wanting it does put tension on BJP as a populist-nationalist party too.
but then again two nuclear powers could play chicken and do every bit of conventional warfare and basically calling the other side’s bluff
Kashmir gotta be the most cursed piece of land ever
did you know that some locals in Kashmir believe the tomb of Jesus is there and that's why there's perpetual conflict there lol
