The album X as a whole, isn't a masterpiece by any means, but his debut album and FAME are both critically acclaimed though. I think he even got a Grammy for FAME

I was probably listening to Chris before you but it still doesn't change the fact that he doesn't have a defining album yet.

I disagree with you but that last half of the sentence is so true. He doesn't have that career defining album, or iconic moment in his career at all. I feel like he's got the hits and the performance aspect down, but he doesn't have "Confessions" or "Thriller" or even a series of albums that are classics like Janet did from Control through The Velvet Rope. He doesn't have that huge career moment and I feel like that's the one thing he needs and he's good from there.

critical acclaim comes from fans and non-fans as well. MJ's fans and non fans can all agree that Thriller is arguably the most influential album of all time. Fans and non-fans can agree that Beyonce's self-titled was a career defining moment for her. Fans and non-fans can agree that ANTI was a masterpiece and one of Rihanna's most cohesive and best albums. (Her best IMO). Fans and non-fans can all agree that Confessions is one of the greatest R&B albums of all time. Critical acclaim doesn't just come from critics. It comes from fans of the artist, music fans, and just the GP in general.

A good album doesn't need to be acclaimed. Not every album needs to be perfect or a classic.

Autumn Leaves is in my top 5 OAT. Perfect song.

i always liked X though the production on that album underrated. Autumn Leaves one of my favorite Breezy songs.
