yes it's a good idea
In God we trust.
conflating trust in god with money and politics is problematic imo but its cool
Genuine question here. I'm curious to know how do you guys reconcile with the fact that you thank God for blessing you with various positive things but at the same time God can apparently give and take whenever he wants? Like if a woman manages to get through a difficult pregnancy that put her life at risk, you would thank God that she survived right? But if she ends up dying a month after the pregnancy due to complications with the birth and people say "it was part of God's plan", how do you accept and feel comfortable with that?

I'm not the audience necessarily for the question but i think it does involve faith that God has wisdom that humans don't understand
Honestly, the way I see religion and faith as a whole, is people are coping with a very confusing thing: existence. And I can't fault anyone for adopting such a thing, especially if they use it in a positive way, and as a reason to keep going and surviving.
We're all going to die and depending on what a Christian believes happens to people whether they're "saved" or not differs sometimes.
But I'll let somebody who's in the mix respond too

I totally get what you're saying. I have the upmost respect for people who have faith and are very invested in their belief and trust in God or whatever higher power they believe in to deal with the complexities of life. I guess my confusion is that I struggle to understand how "Theres nothing God can't do" but simultaneously you can pray for something to happen but theres a possibility it won't because that's not what God has planned for you? Wouldn't that then render prayer of no use if he already has a plan set for you regardless?

And also if God has wisdom that humans don't understand, as you're saying, then how are we effectively communicating with him through prayer?

Technically a creator would understand it’s own creation if you goin that route
Also according to the Bible God sent Jesus to better get the message of love across, which I find as a valuable way of thinking about it
God can seem kinda far off and theoretical but Christ is like a human example of what unconditional love ought to look like imo

U getting into predestination territory somewhat
I think prayer can be good and similar to a form of meditation that can bring u peace on the inside spiritually regardless of if u see results but
Idk I feel like I’m taking up too much of the thread where I don’t identify as Christian although many of my moral values I give any value come from it
Apostolic backslider. I still pray everyday. I ask for forgiveness often, but I could do more repenting. My main sins are foul language and unclean thoughts about women. I'm not up to par on quoting the bible verbatim, but I have wisdom from it's fruits. I am a believer through and through.

Well the World is the devil's, he only wants to see you not make it into heaven and wither your relationship with God. Despite the world being the devil's God still has a plan for you that the devil cannot stop and it's going to be of your best interest and God's. As far as praying I can't really describe it but here are some verses about praying God will answer the prayers of the righteous if it's in his will.
Philippians 4:6
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God."
Psalm 102:17
"He regards the prayer of the destitute and does not despise their prayer."
James 5:16
"Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working."
