mentalloWatched this last night. really wanted to like this but this is so unnecessarily convoluted and doubles down on inception’s biggest problems. These are sci fi movies not about characters or emotions or ideas or human experience at all. They’re just self-contained gadgets that are amusing but mechanical, cold, sterile. they ride such a fine line between clever and stupid. for all the complaints of Stanley kubrick movies leaving people feeling cold and detached, those movies are actually trying to say something. people obsessively theorize and interpret them beyond just their basic plot. What’s really going on in this movies besides just trying to be a logic puzzle?
and holy s*** is john david washington miscast. this guy cannot deliver a line to save his life

Warner is showing mad confidence in the streaming future, if the HBO Max decision really comes out as a success story (I doubt that), does Nolan really wants to work with them any longer, knowing how he looks down on streaming-only? I mean they are still planning a overseas theatre distribution, but it’s only a matter of time they follow Disney‘s footsteps.

kind of wild tenet was the case study for this, it lost a lot more money because Nolan refused to put it on streaming and wanted it to be the first summer blockbuster back in theaters.
Bad strategy but 20/20 hindsight, understandable where he’s coming from and WB would probably reach this decision no matter what happened with tenet. even if it did well in the summer, recent covid surges basically killed any hope for winter or spring box office
he’s gotta be pissed for sure. I don’t think he’ll leave WB because this is probably going to be the standard for big studios once his next movie is out, best offer he might get from anyone is his movies won’t have a streaming option when released. sucks.

I don't see him going along with it or supporting it in the slightest, but I could also see him continuing to work with WB (since they've bent to his will so much) if he's the exception to the rule.

Bro everyone in the audience reacting to people getting shot and beat up on stage by just sitting in their seats and covering heads and not a single person trying to escape or anything. And then when the gas comes out they all just fall asleep in a matter of seconds 😂
I dont know why he even chose the scene to be in such an epic scale with so many extras if they will all end up looking look like the dude was giving them a sign what to do on stage. S*** was so offputting

idk if people were in the front with guns and back in guns, i could see people freezing. same thing happened in DKR with the football stadium.
