Well put
agree for the most part except for the david Washington slander. buddy did what he had to do with his character. they wrote him as a james bond type. no attachments except the job. what did u want him to do? hes delivering lines as a career professional who shouldnt have attachments. on my repeated viewings, him and R pat are the shining lights in this movie
I’ll say this. This movie was definitely hyped. A lot of lack of emotions from the main character. JDW is not that great of an actor and his voice just doesn’t seem right to me. Sounds like he’s reading off a script for the first time. Anyway, the film left me a lot of questions which is good.
it wasnt written to be an emotional movie. there was NOTHING in that movie or script that any actor in that "protagonist" role could have done. had he not written it like a James Bond, feeling yet unfeeling type, we could maybe have had more
Not a lot of time to breath.
the movie is done that way intentionally but its so off putting the first time you watch.

Pattinson shines for sure
Washington should go back to comedy though hard to take him seriously
Watched this last night. really wanted to like this but this is so unnecessarily convoluted and doubles down on inception’s biggest problems. These are sci fi movies not about characters or emotions or ideas or human experience at all. They’re just self-contained gadgets that are amusing but mechanical, cold, sterile. they ride such a fine line between clever and stupid. for all the complaints of Stanley kubrick movies leaving people feeling cold and detached, those movies are actually trying to say something. people obsessively theorize and interpret them beyond just their basic plot. What’s really going on in this movies besides just trying to be a logic puzzle?
and holy s*** is john david washington miscast. this guy cannot deliver a line to save his life
Well i felt a lot of emotions. But it was hidden in so many layers, Nolan did not made them easy for you to reach.
For exemple, the protagonist in that prologue gives us a lot of info about him. How he changes the mission to help the people in the opera, how he is ready to do anything to save his team, how he cried when they died.
Again, how he changes the mission to save the girl in the highway
But i feel like the emotion does not rely on past stories, or excessive patos like Inception or Interstellar or what ever the movie might have. It relies on the situation right now, but the event are so intense, you cannot dwell on it, you got to stay focus.
And the thing you didnt see that movie in the cinema so not to make it an excuse but it feels like you didnt get the experience.
What i got from that movie, i was so overwhelmed by stimulus and couldnt understand the twist and turns of the plot, i just let it go. I let go the need for understanding and just "felt it", seriously. I let it wash over me and it felt so liberating. We get so attached by the need to make sens as we watch it we get hung up on the little details.
By the last five minutes of the movie i made my peace with the idea of not understanding it. And I dont know why, the last few sentences made everything click, and i got the whole story during credits and while leaving the theater.
And last thing, this movie got release between the first and second quarantine in France and my mood was really. And for some reason, this movie made me so f***ing happy especially Robert Pattinson character. Too bad he is Batman now because i would totally see him as James Bond.
i was happy for like four days after that, thinking "Everything gonna be alright."

once the red room blue room scene hits (on first watch) you really have to make the decision to not worry about the logistics and enjoy the movie
second watch is easier logistically and makes the movie even better every subsequent watch

fr he’s not good at being serious

Exactly. Same moment for me. After that I remember the Aaron Taylor-Johnson's character explaining the last assault with the blue team and red team and not understanding the plan at all. But yeah i made the conscience choice of not letting that bother me
Thought this was coming on HBO Max today
And I thought I would be able to rent it through iTunes movies today
just ordered the 4K up for pickup at Target bout to watch tonight with my girl
I’m high key thinking about copping the digital. I’ve never bought a digital movie, but this might be my favorite movie OAT. I can’t think of anything else. First movie ever I watch multiple times in cinema and still want to watch more. I’m also really interested in the iTunes Extra stuff
Edit: Over 1h of extras
Edit 2: Only thing that will really suck is not being able to view in IMAX ratio
was supposed to get 4k blu ray today
shipping still hasn't updated even once
waited all this time and still haven't seen it

I bought the digital and while it was pricey for me, it was worth it since I now have better understanding since the first watch in theaters.
When does this come on HBO MAX?
Probably not for awhile since they’re tryna get all the money they can from purchases and rentals.
Hey guys did they adjust the sound mix for the digital release it actually sounds fine. I didnt go see it at the cinemas though
