'Avec amour et acharnement' fka "Fire"
Fire tells the tale of a passionate love triangle. Jean and Sara have been living together for 10 years. When they first met, Sara was living with François, Jean’s best friend and an admirer from back when he played pro rugby. Jean and Sara love each other. One day, Sara sees François in the street. He does not notice her, but she is overcome by the sensation that her life could suddenly change. François gets back in touch with Jean. For the first time in years. He suggests they start working together again. From here on, things spiral out of control.

I hope she does that miniseries someday
While McQueen’s anthology spans five separate films capturing the lives of West Indian immigrants in London from the 1960s to the 1980s, Denis said her version would further explore the world of the Caribbean community at the heart of her 2008 feature 35 Shots Of Rum.

great interview with Binoche!
excerpts:
Did you really turned down Steven Spielberg three times?
I don’t remember very well but Steven reminded me! The first time was for “Indiana Jones 3,” because I was doing “The Lovers on the Bridge” with Leos Carax. The second time, for “Schindler’s List,” I was pregnant, and then for the dinosaurs (“Jurassic Park”), I had already committed to “Three Colors: Blue” (Krzysztof Kieslowski’s film). It would have been amusing to do “Jurassic Park” to see how (Spielberg) makes the film, but at the same time, Spielberg is more of a men’s director, like Scorsese actually.

Yes, it was a brutal shoot. That brutality was embedded in the subject of the film because it’s about the confrontation of a couple, and it triggers a lot of passion and aggressiveness. There are also some synergies that can form on set between actors and directors and the crew which can be more electric than others.

She’s driven by desire when she films women. She approaches her camera close to you and she searches for the perfect shot, and when she gets it she shows it to the cinematographer and says “that’s where you need to be.” When you’re filmed in that way you can only feel reassured. That’s why I trust her completely.
