I want to start doing weekly discussions about classic albums and what makes them classics.
If you don’t think the mentioned albums aren’t classic or good that’s fine, but for those who do share your input about why you love the albums, favorite songs, little things that turns it from good to great, etc.
Give as much detail as you feel
We’ll start with Kid A and Ok Computer. For me Kid A has one the greatest opening sons ever
i havent heard an album express impending doom as well as kid A
truly the perfect album for this time as well
so quickly before i say something else i love thom yorkes voice so thats starter, lot people dislike his high pitch "moaning"
ok computer works on complexity alone. It was extremely cutting edge and their so many memorable moments plus the premise behind it feels so real and with foresight we seen how influential has became in its predictions and its influences moving forward
Kid a basically encapsulates that lonely and remote style that really cements this album as best radiohead album.
i could probs go into a 1k plus essay deconstructing the tracks but i dont think its necessary as they basically some most a***ysed albums of all time.
If u havent heard them just drop what your doing and give it listen
favs on kid A
title track
how to disappear completely
idioteque
motion picture soundtrack
favs on OkC
airbag
SHA
let down
both GOAT albums
in terms of what makes them great, they're masterclasses in emotive music. how to disappear completely resonates with me on a personal level as someone who's had derealization in the past. Radiohead's best music has a quality to it that just transports you to another dimension. In rainbows has some moments on there (like nude) which evoke the same feeling to me.
