I’m thinking about the scale of this and wheewww
Seeing Egypt in all it’s glory, with Denis’ attention to detail…shit is going to look INSANE
That first IMAX screening gonna HIT
Some news
But right now, there are other types of movies Villeneuve wants to make, including an adaptation of Stacy Schiff’s Cleopatra, currently being written by Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917)
David Scarpa (“Napoleon”) had written the original draft, but it looks as though Wilson-Cairns is now taking a crack at it.
Aye man what about The Son?????
Probably before this since this still being written
How come
Idk if she has the acting chops for this most importantly.
Secondly social media gonna rip her apart when that first set photo hits the internet with her in costume. It’s gonna be think pieces about Cleopatra being black, Zendaya taking black women roles, Zendaya being the “acceptable” level black woman for Hollywood. She meets the quota of hiring a “black” woman, etc.
If she gives a damn near flawless performance which with Denis directing I think it’s certainly plausible, then she’ll silence them. But i do think they’re better choices to pick from.
Zendaya should not have agreed to this role.
youre right, it should be white zionist gal gadot instead

Would’ve went with Maggie Gyllenhall
Aren't Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot doing this as well? They've been talking about a Cleopatra film with Gal for years but maybe it'll fall through at some point
Feel like this story is kinda ran to the ground especially amongst all that can be explored with Rome but hoping there's a solid angle. Cast looks like he's just falling back on people he knows tho

Are you saying zendaya isn’t black?

Netflix doc kinda gutted the "was Cleopatra Black?" discourse

What's crazy is Cleopatra wasn't even black so like if Zendaya doesn't count then that should be an assist

Cleopatra was not black
Are you saying zendaya isn’t black?
That’s a different conversation, but if you asking just that, then no I don’t consider Zendaya a black woman.
Cleopatra was not black
I didn’t say she was or wasn’t. I’m just talking about the potential discourse that will unfold

Cleopatra is one of those cursed roles that never actually happens.

Depending on the tone n plot of the film, long as Denis don’t do no goofy s*** like this
Don’t really matter
F*** biopics. Boring Oscar bait genre. At least Napoleon just made fun of Napoleon and the whole idea of hagiography
