You’re right, it wasn’t the right pick for a lead single. It sounds better in the context of an album cut. But I would take it over 2-3 other songs

I thought John Legend would be getting the most criticism from this thread but Pharrell’s singing lapped it by far.

I think the So Be It Pt. 2 beat could’ve worked with different drums as a different beat/song on the album but the problem with it is, it completely juxtaposes the OG one in a negative way.

Part of what makes the OG So Be It so fire is how minimal and cold it sounds. It fits with the energy of the vocals very nicely. Part 2 is so bombastic and in your way, it changes the tone of the original completely. It also sounds like s*** in the context of the album.
