Niggas act like you can’t critique Wayne objectively lmao Nobody said he wasn’t a legend. But his album discography in comparison to some of the other greats ain’t exactly up there. On the flip side it’s only a handful of rappers that could rival Wayne’s hot streak as the top rapper and his influence and impact is bar none.

The Clipse album is just better.. and happened to sell more.

I agree with most of this.

That said, KTT2 often overdoes this because niggas here tend to live in the moment where the whole of Young Money is getting trashed online while the Clipse are deemed rap's new "saviors."

Wayne dropped a bad album 3 decades into his career. It's disappointing but not that mind blowing since many of Wayne's peers who debuted in the late 90's/early 00's are washed. I mean....Camron did a feature with Game 3 years ago that was so bad that Game sounded like a better Camron than him. At least Wayne can still spit and rap great when he's locked in.

And his mixtape catalog is still one of rap's best as well as the first 3 Carters being a great trilogy.

You guys can be happy for Clipse without the crazy Wayne disrespect going on in here

This place is literally just /r/hiphopheads now

Fr cause even if they did outsell him obviously with an album 1000% more and better marketed, when it comes to overall sales the clipse is dwarfed next to Wayne. They catching up barely.

Haven’t the beef between them been over with? Dont get why people tryna rile Wayne fans up over this lol

Factual for the most part but the thing that I stress when it comes to Wayne’s catalog (and rapper catalogs in general) is that people tend to focus on his solo studio album discography and not his total output and I think that’s reductive

When we talk about Wayne’s catalog we should be talking about not only his 3 straight classic studio albums (C1-C3), but also his multiple classic mixtapes (easily the greatest mixtape rapper oat), and his albums as a member of the hot boys which are landmark southern rap projects. And that’s not even including his classic features that could add up to multiple projects by themselves (arguably the greatest feature rapper oat too)

I agree his studio albums have been disappointing since his prime but when you take ALL of that into consideration, his catalog is as legendary as anyones

I think that’s something that unfortunately happens to alot of rappers of that era. Mixtapes were social to the genre and culture than but ultimately get overlooked as mixtapes transitioned Into being considered basically albums or “projects”. I’ve said it before but yeah you can’t leave out the classic mixtapes and when discussing Wayne’s complete career and discography you have to consider it all.

Similar to the MJ discussion ITT when someone also brought up his input wit the Jackson 5. I personally believe C2 is up there with Lord Willin and HHNF. But it’s a quality over quantity thing for me when it comes to Wayne.

    Nah bro.

Because Wayne dropped a bad album 3 decades into his career, we're supposed to act like he's WOAT and never dropped great music in his life.

This is KTT2. We don't do nuance here brother.

yall dramatic. nobody discredited his classics just bc his recent output been weak

112k for a rap group's (both niggas in their 40s and 50s) first album in 15 years.

I'm usually never acknowledging sales threads...but this actually says a lot about the landscape, what the audiences are looking for.

Like @Water_Giver said, there's younger "more popping" rappers that aren't selling this much 1st week.

I hope this trend continues. I’m over these post-2015 rappers that don’t know how to perform and don’t know how to write.

  • Guys were expecting Wayne to make a multi platinum album? LOL

Wayne wanted to be the third Clipse member so bad back in the 2000s. F*** out of here.

  • Jul 20, 2025

Waynes last great project was almost a decade ago. Clipse just had a huge comeback. Who cares.

  • Jul 20, 2025

Actually is quite impressive, considering c6 has very few redeemable qualities Wayne was still able to sell 100k off his name alone
