burial is really that nigga man like he really made two of the most important electronic works (and one he made in two weeks on an audio editor) of the 21st century and his eps are all classics too. no disrespect to richard tho he the goat but bro just listen
In my uninformed opinion, he’s just under him.
Making Untrue in an audio editor is a f***ing accomplishment and Archangel is one of the best songs in the genre but Aphex Twin is just untouchable with the amount of classics and good s***. He has like 200 amazing songs randomly floating around on sc.
yea
Agree. He’s my favorite electronic artist of all time by a long shot.
Kindred is peak music imo.
currently reading "ghosts of my life" by mark fisher and he writes a bunch about burial in it. actually has an interview with him about his music and hauntology and all that stuff. highly recommend it if you haven't already read it.

The king. Made me see burial in a whole new light really

I've never seen anyone understand an artist as much as mark fisher understood burial.
just reading his descriptions of what untrue sounds like gave me chills.
RIP to one of the greatest writers in recent history.

Amen. Check out K-Punk if you haven’t he goes in deep about a lot of artists/songs from the 60s-80s and their adjacentness to societal trends/revolutionary movements. He also mentioned that he can’t stay awake through the entirety of Kid A but TKOL sold him on Radiohead

that's certainly a take.
gonna read k-punk next for sure.
Definitely not! He’s amazing and a legend but he is not RDJ LOL. He has a very clear ceiling as a musician where Aphex has none. And there’s definitely something to be said about how inconsistent/lackluster most of his post Untrue material is
Aphex an undisputed legend and definitely one of the Greatest but
There's music before Untrue and then there's music after Untrue
Love burial but Richard d James is literally one most influential musicians of the last 50 years.
Tho I will say burial is very influential (lots of 40 production style owes to burial)
