I mean retiring doesnt have to be set in stone

Baiting & dragging the album along makes it look goofy & heightens it to extreme expectations

Its been like 7 years now maybe even a lil longer cuz i know it was announced/talked before KOD

Also, Cole might stumble upon the same problem Wayne's been having where his features are godly but his solo songs fall below expectations.

I remember being shocked at how The Fix sounded due to how hungry Wayne's been sounding on his feats and mixtapes.

But, given how dope Off Season is, I think The Fall Off will be a decent album. Definitely not unique or groundbreaking but something similar to Off Season in terms of quality.

To be fair to everyone mad about it being a long wait, he says in the recent video he's on the 6th version of this album so far and that as has he keeps working new songs keep making the cut

    For almost a decade now

He’s self aware I’ll give him that.

The idea of a Cole album is always better than the actual Cole album.

I thought the off season was dope but I'm gonna need the fall off to be better. Especially if he's been working on it for as long as he has. The songs that he cut off from it already and released as loosies (everybody dies, false prophets, high for hours, javari) are some of his best songs ever. So if that's the bar then my expectations are pretty high and I don't like to have high expectations as a listener but Cole been hyping the s*** out this album and setting that expectation with himself so I can't really help it

    Yeah.

And personally Cole is my least fav out of the 3 & him playing around with this album adds to that as well its just annoying/unnecessary.

I do like Foreset Hill & Born Sinner a lot tho.

But yeah I agree - even when kendrick was completely gone and drake was in "his worst era" Cole still somehow to slip when being a race all by himself - sales wise and "making a moment" wise.

I feel like Fall Off is used as a crutch since 2016/2018 as a "no, no-no - those werent real projects they are the warmups for THE REAL PROJECT called Fall Off 🤓 "

One of the things that always bothered me with Cole is how wishy washy & unconfident he is from music to his image and to him as a person which has always heen a thing such as the Jay Z and Nas s*** to today.

Its ridiculous. And constanly teasing it like this & propping it up only makes it harder for himself. Not only from an audience of fans/haters expectations but also I'd be willing to bet it makes it harder for himself to create & perform to a standard he thinks he needs. Creating self imposed stipulations, expectstions, self doubt & anxiety which is one of the worst things a creator in any art can do to themselves& its really hard to crawl out of.

I feel like its what happened to the Cole x Kendrick album too on Cole's side. Yes kendricks busy schedule of newfound success at the time but also Coles pattern of self doubt, self imposed expectations & lack of confidence. And again like with Fall Off - the endless over hyping & selling of the collab which leads to extreme expectations & heavy self criticism.

Its ridiculous & a pattern/attitude ive been over with regarding him.

Youre not a run of a mill rapper or a nobody - stop acting/feeling like it. Youre one of the best rappers of an entire era that has a massive dedicated fanbase - act like it & realize it.

Cole's self-doubt and self depricarion inside and outside the music is some of the major things that always bothered me about him & part of what keeps him from be an overall fav of mine.

I feel like Cole realized he jumped the gun by announcing The Fall Off in 2018 and realized he didn't wanna retire just yet and is trying to stretch this out as long as he can

He said the fall off is probably not gonna be his last.

Cole is an amazing rapper but his catalog was never as compelling as Kendrick's or even Drake's imho.

And, while Cole can spit, Kendrick and Drake can spit too. Maybe Cole sounds hungrier or more technical on average today but it's not like Kendrick didn't black out on Family Ties or Drake didn't black out on Churchill Downs.

Cole is someone I listen to for his personal stories and bars but he's easily the least unique out of the Big 3. Big KRIT and Wale have dabbled in very similar topics but just lacked crossover appeal. And his own artists, Earth Gang and JID have more interesting discographies and production than him.

But I'm still looking forward to Fall Off, though, just cause I want to see Cole shine. Fall Off and C6 need to drop to help save lyricism in mainstream rap.
