I rented out a room in this 5 bedroom house with this family and one of their friends, the owner of the house said I'd rarely even notice they were home because they're often away at school, work, and they live very quite live...Turns out this is not true at all

They have a f***in roach/ant problem, I keep my room clean more than these fockin pigs so thankfully I ain't effected by the roaches.

But here's the real problem...Now mind you my room is located smack dab right next to the Kitchen so what really gets me mad is how they so inconsiderately come down into the Kitchen in the middle of the night all the time, from 11:30-2:00, and have Dinner Table convos loud af, sometimes clean a gang of dishes in the middle of the night, and just be mad inconsiderate. I understand if you're hungry and gotta grab something to eat but you don't gotta STAY RIGHT NEXT TO MY F***IN ROOM TO EAT IT AND HAVE A F***IN CONVERSATION. Like y'all cant at the very least go to the living room??

This is on top of having to deal with their younger daughter having a nightmare once a week and waking the whole house up.

What can I do to show them just how inconsiderate they're being or just something to get even idgaf

this a good idea, I just sent the owner a txt msg and they've always seemed like nice people aside from these few inconsideration's

I'm sure we'll be able to work something out :)

judging by the first sentence you cant do s***, you rented a room with a family and their friend. you are the outsider.

either invest in soundproofing, start utilizing things that create white noise (fans, watching those 10 hour youtube videos of rain and s***), ear plugs, or legit ask them if you can switch to the room farthest away from the kitchen. either that or move out. thats it

You live with a family of 4, its essentially their house. Talking with them is not gonna help. You help them pay the bills. Thats it.

I strongly consider moving out or investing in one of those options above. This getting revenge s*** is pointless.

    1. what is preventing you from leaving?
    2. just talk to them bout the kitchen thing. if you never brought it up, doubt they realize how loud they're being. just text them whenever they're loud ("hey--could you guys keep it down in the kitchen? ~~had a long day ~~gotta get up early in the morning ~~really stressed right now and would appreciate it") so that they're even aware theres an issue
    3. i doubt they wanna be woken up by this child in the middle of the night either so i dont think you should necessarily be tight at them for it.....
    4. report them to the health department for roach infestation that they are not doing anything about if u want revenge ig thebalancesmb.com/how-to-report-a-landlord-to-the-health-department-4159515

i don't think you are entirely powerless in this situation--there has to be some sorta contract you signed. plus it would probably be mad annoying for them to have to find a new renter (taking time and energy) as well as meaning they'd lose money in the interim.

plus normally for everyone's sanity theres some sort of quiet hours agreement between roommates. if there isn't, definitely try to bring that up, specifically mention that you can hear a lot of kitchen noise, so would appreciate it were just quiet hours in the immediate vicinity of your room with the living room as an exception to common area quiet hrs or sumn

    idk dude

    j talk 2 them
