Boxing is supported and owned by Saudi basically. Plus, a lot of boxers are conservative by nature for the most part. Comedians get a wider spectrum of people who listen to them.
The overlap is not the same for the audiences.

It would be viewed differently if the Festival was funded/operated by someone different. Other comedians who declined the opportunity have said things along those lines
Nobody looks to Canelo Álvarez for commentary on social issues, which is why personally I don’t give a s*** if someone like him takes the money

It’s just people calling certain guys out (like Bill Burr) for accepting censorship of their routines, taking money directly from the PIF, doing the whole propaganda spiel, and then coming back to the US and talking about social issues
