this always sort of been a thing but i feel like it’s been far more flagrant lately

like on a smaller tip there’s just basic stuff like some of the ads during the Super Bowl that seemed super targeted and “woke” now that it’s financially beneficial and companies playing catch up

but i went to JC Penny the other day bc my girl needed makeup from Sephora and i walk in and right at the front is all these phoned-in half ass designed shirts, one just totally black wit white text “BLACK XCELLENCE,” one wit the black power fist, other sort of s***

and then i imagine at the end of the month they just gon mark the s*** down like 75% or just warehouse it till next February. we saw s*** like this after gay marriage too, and every gay pride month it seems like i always see these corporations pandering like we are idiots and trying to co opt these movements.

like on one hand, “bet, acceptance!” but on the other it definitely does not seem genuine and is probably p detrimental to the causes in the long run by capitalist complacency. i’m not black nor gay tho so curious for others thoughts but this s*** definitely makes me a lil uneasy for some reason

blm, the me too movement, etc are all rooted in neoliberalism

they want vague leaderless movements so they can control them and profit off them
