Damn that joint got the same amt of streams as Juicy and more than Mo Money Mo Problems lmao
I’m @ ing you for this
Take it back
Both are classics, just comes down to personal preference.
It’s on popular curated Spotify playlists
A lot of older classic songs get placements on those
Also, "FF" > "Be"
Nah but I ain’t mad at this
It’s like someone saying F&L >The Cool
Damn that joint got the same amt of streams as Juicy and more than Mo Money Mo Problems lmao
Definitely a glitch
there are a lot of songs from bigger artists esp from that era like this which just have an absurd amount of plays for whatever reason. not a glitch
idk why it’s got that many streams but it is a really good song maybe it has good placement in some random playlists
I dont think it’d have 600 million just from playlisting, def must have a viral tik tok sound or something but thats cool great song
my guess is the algorithm picked the song up and suggested it to people who listen to jazzy/conscious rap and because it’s a classic, people listened. more that people listened when it was recommended, the more it was pushed out
all in all
good music lasts forever and that’s the moral of the story
same thing with abba and fleetwood mac blowing up in a whole new generation, some music is just built to last. artists have been conditioned into wanting to have viral moments but we all see what really lasts the test of time
Streaming really is crazy
For reference
Janet Jackson’s That’s The Way Love Goes was a #1 hit in 1993 (topped the Hot 100 for 8 weeks) and has 124,773,870 million streams on Spotify
Common’s The People didn’t even make the Hot 100 when it originally droppped in 2007, and now has 600 million streams on Spotify
I wonder what we can takeaway from this? Playlist insertion and payola lead to more streams? Tik Tok & social media can make any song viral?
yup
these days you just need two-three songs that become playlist essentials and you’re good
Surf Curse / Current Joys have over 1.5 billion streams between 5 tracks because they’re songs for every angst teen to hear

which is funny because that was the meaning behind the title of the album finding forever
Be is super cohesive and laser focused but I prefer the vibe and direction on this album more personally, great era for Common and of course the Ye contributions

This is why I always preferred Be to Finding Forever honestly
Plus Forever has tracks that I’m not too crazy about (Southside, Start The Show) that said, Finding Forever may have Dilla’s best beat ever (So Far To Go)
Well deserved
prob one of my favorite ye beats at that
I listen to the instrumental religiously
Damn that joint got the same amt of streams as Juicy and more than Mo Money Mo Problems lmao
yeah I dont think people itt understand how much 600m streams is lmao "iT wAs iN mOvIeS" is not an explanation
it's so cute seeing young people realizing that legacy play such a bigger part in sustainability than "being hot at the moment"
yes @op
people love Common. Everything isn't always due to a tik tok or a viral moment lmao.
Ain’t nobody checking in Common like that 😂😂
