2020 I'm looking for something that will actually use my degree. Watch out for skill decay. It's real and I have it. I have like 10 leetcode problems actually completed and borderline level 4 on firecode
What’s easier to become proficient at? Python or JavaScript?
I’d say they’re similar but probably python if you’re a beginner

It’s so hard for me to get motivated over break lol

prolly python but tbh whichever will keep you motivated to keep learning it (i.e if you have an idea in mind that more fits that lang)
worked as a lead ui/ux dev and designer
Could you tell us a bit about your journey? How you got into it, how fresh graduates could get their foot into the industry?
What would ppl look for in an interview?

Yeah, same. I'm just getting bored of watching anime and playing games lol. Trying to build something or learn something new
switched out of mobile dev for distributed computing next semester lol

I started out doing web design and mockups in Photoshop in High School. Worked with my neighbor who ran a company so I was listed as an intern where I learned mobile responsive design and front-end development for tagging, no scripting (HTML, CSS, JQUERY, JS). Then, I learned php on my own and began making themes on Wordpress, and got a job at a call-center as a tech support rep. I solely told them in the interview that I'm only here to broaden my scope of knowledge on web servers and not here to progress in the company tbh. I worked there for a year and some change, and got a job as a Jr. Wordpress Developer at a local Catholic-centric web/marketing firm, and worked there for roughly a year. After that, got a position at a well-known logistics company in Houston as the UI Lead developer on contract (JSF, Primefaces based UI). From there, now I'm working for the county (HARRIS CO.) as a web developer, ui/ux designer and developer, and and I have other roles.
Anyone into mobile development or data visualization? Looking to get into either one, but not too sure which one I should do

I'd imagine data visualization would require a decent statistics background? My program is very stats oriented and a lot of us are rly good at data visualization as a result. But I'd think u would want to focus on the stats underlying everything
Maybe u could do creative or interactive data visualization. R shiny is a good library for doing that on the web
