My theory is that Doom was separated from his wife after getting deported to the UK, Rhymesayers was handling his social media for him, and his wife and fam got the news before they did, hence the late announcement.

Probably wanted to keep it in the family, the obnoxious turn out to the funeral n s*** during a pandemic would have been frustrating to manage. At least they kept the last bit of horrible news in 2020 and let us know at the end of it

This,I think his family wanted to personally grieve themselves before telling the public. I think they dropped this info on NYE cause they felt like Dooms legacy was strong enough to where he would be celebrated instead of just straight mourned by fans.

I mourned hard for a minute while listening to his discog but then the songs just made me feel better

This really is one of those rare cases where I think an artist accomplished everything he wanted to accomplish when they was here. I think his family realizes he lives on through his music cause he left that much of a stamp on Hip Hop.
