Fiona Apple is very boring.
I know this is a huge hot take and that she’s obviously a great musician to inspire so much love and devotion to her art—but it ain’t for me, and that’s fine.
I like tracks on her first album like The First Taste but otherwise I agree
ksg is extremely mediocre and should not at all be elevated to the level it is
Brass and horn instruments would always carry Michael Jackson; if they hadn’t interpolated them, I would deem all his opuses utterly horrendous.
Beyoncé doesn’t have an album as good as Britney Spears’ In The Zone, and Spears’ Boom Boom did more for the South than Beyoncé’s discography
You’ve never heard 1999, Kiss, when Doves Cry, Purple Rain, I wanna be your lover, little red corvette, I would die 4 u, etc.
Either you’re young, tripping or just forgetting. His music is used widely including at malls/shopping centres sometimes, he differs though from most artists that he tried to limit his music to not being reproduced. I remember him even shutting down videos of purple rain covers for example on TV shows
If Paris Hilton released Paris today, it would be critically acclaimed. Paris would be our Macy Gray
tbh the only prince song I know is purple rain. I know what a lot of his other songs sound like, but PR is the only one I can actually match a name to and sing the lyrics with
And another confession is I kinda find Prince's falsetto annoying. He just use a little bit too much. It wasn't bad, just overused
He’d rarely use it in early ‘90s.
Elaborate?
He’d never been influenced by Bowie.
Clinton, Sly Stone, Larry, James Brown - yes; Bowie - no.
