And I guess it's besides the point but it really pisses me off how this guy is an a****** to begin with, even when you put the petty s*** aside, and that he's probably been saying "fuck em I'm dying soon anyway." im gonna keep it real with you, people wouldnt care about term limits if the people in power were doing a good job. people care about term limits specifically because these zombies are both continually doing a bad job AND maintain their longevity. people just see term limits as a means of getting rid of officials because they feel they're out of options; if ANY of these politicians were actually doing a good job I don't think term limits would be near as popular of a discussion. this says a lot more about the current system more wholly imo than it does how terms work

You gotta make laws with the worst case scenario in mind. "How could the worst person imaginable abuse this law?" Term limits act as a check to balance career politicking and lobbying. They also provide avenues for independents to have a place, and they force the general public to actually research who theyre voting for

i dont disagree with you on that, i guess im just saying that i think the wider system is so broken that im not sure if just adding term limits would inherently fix the problem that lack of term limits has created, if that makes sense. i'm not against harm reduction when done correctly, but i think its important to point out when things are symptoms of a bigger problem vs the problem in and of itself
