Some of the most noteworthy things we've gotten this year are:
1. A remake of a 2005 classic

2. An open-world Zelda game that just barely climbs out of Ubisoft-tier open world due to good mechanics

3. An unoptimized, empty, & procedurally generated Bethesda game that removed bugs alongside any charm and exploration that might have been there

4. A decent Spiderman sequel whose writers engaged in group pegging sessions before clocking in

It's actually laughable how Cyberpunk: PL is lauded as one of the best games of the year, and it's an expansion/update to an existing game that was broken and lifeless since its launch 3 years ago

I can't speak to its quality (haven't finished yet) but if a hallmark of the year is devs taking 3 years to make a game great, then where did we go wrong

this is one of those posts where it’s either pure bait, or @op just has no idea what they’re talking about, but suffice it to say the 9th gen had a rocky start due to covid and this was the first year we truly started to emerge from it. devs have been having to adjust a lot to the 2020s and that has caused some turnover in the last couple years but in what world where

final fantasy 16
tears of the kingdom
resident evil 4
starfield
spider-man 2
alan wake 2

and the billion other 9/10 games that released this year. has “quality plummeted”

play alan wake and watch two entirely different maps crossfade into each other and tell me that there’s no innovation or quality in the ps5 generation you try hard dead fish
