Resonant bosses are really under tuned. Just did dancer and deserter back to back, both first try at aberrant lvl 70. Legitimately zero challenge, just button mash and occasionally dodge
You can decrease FOV to 75 make the camera a bit closer
Also try it off stream
It gets tougher as you progress, I’m struggling with some of the bigger hedrons in the unknown like proxy hedron
Cant run it off steam on stream since i vtube off warudo and use a 2nd pc, it closes warudo when i launch a steam game on the other pc now 🚮
Was going through twitch streams to get the drops and had Jesse being playable spoiled by a thumbnail

No idea what the context was other than it was in the park, Jesse talking to another character in the normal dialogue camera angle. Dylan wasn’t there which is what made me think she’s playable. I probably just misunderstood what was happening if you’ve platinumed and didn’t see it. Clicked off real quick when I realized, only got to look for a few seconds
rolled credits tn, eh. my review from backloggd
I loved my first 6-8 hours and I was sure it was going to be a 5/5 for me but eventually the cracks started to show and I ended up finding the open world and combat to really hold the game back from reaching the heights I initially anticipated.
The attempt at an open world is admirable but the issue with it is the game is at it's absolute peak when you're going through a linear and hand crafted visual spectacle that blows basically every other game out of the water. When you come out of that, you're met with bog standard and uninteresting checklist open world gameplay and extremely limited enemy variety, and that takes up the majority of the gameplay. After those first few hours you've pretty much seen and experienced what every zone is going to have to offer, there's very little variety in that sense. In a lot of ways the zones just ended up feeling like a bit of padding before the next big set piece. This also ended up hurting my drive to complete the side quests. I found a lot of the side quests to be intriguing but I just got so tired of running back and forth across zones that I decided to skip the majority of side quests unless they piqued my interest immediately.
Another change was the switch to melee focused combat and I found this to be underbaked with a facade of meaningful choice. There's 3 main weapons, 3 secondaries, 6 combo finishers, all with their own skilltrees and 3 damage types. I respec'ed multiple times and used a variety of builds and they all felt the exact same. Some enemies are weaker or more resistant to certain damage types or have shields/armor and it doesn't matter what type of damage you're doing and what your build is. Spam attack enough and you'll break through whatever armor the enemy has or your damage output will be so high that it doesn't matter that they're weaker to a different damage type.
Sort of in the same vein, the boss fights are all great visually and thematically but they offer so little challenge. Never did I have to rethink my playstyle or my approach. Basically every fight was just dodge, jump, spam attack for as long as I can and repeat. It never really mattered what the bosses were doing and I beat every single one on my very first attempt, never even getting close to dying.
All that being said, the presentation, the world building, and visuals are first in class. Nobody does it like Remedy. I didn't find the story to be as gripping at the first game and that's probably due to the open world structure creating large gaps between story moments, but when I was able to go from main mission to main mission, things did start to string together nicely. There was some really creative platforming sections that I enjoyed too. Also while I'm not really into puzzles I did a few of them and they were a nice challenge.
I wouldn't say the game was a "disappointment" cause I did enjoy my time with it, I just think it would have come together better in a much more tighter package.
3.5/5
Idk man… I just haven’t been into this as much as I hoped I would. I was looking forward to this too. From the few hours I’ve played, I think the first game is much better. The aesthetic and level design is obviously fantastic, but I’m not completely sold on the gameplay yet. Imma keep playing tho ofc lol

9/10…..My GOTY for now
