Started downloading more FLAC audio files for my iTunes library. Does converting FLAC to ALAC (apples lossless audio format) hinder any of the sound quality from the original FLAC files?

it shouldn't

they're both lossless, so it shouldn't. if you're on OS X use XLD

lossless to lossless = no quality loss

rename the file

ex.

Travis Scott - song.flac

rename to

Travis Scott - song.alac

i used to do this s*** in photo class because the teacher required it in .raw/.tiff but i left it in jpeg
