I feel bad for the citizens of China and what they're going through, and all the Asians who are dealing with misattributed sinophobia. But the Chinese government is legitimately evil. So is the American government, the Israeli government, the British government, etc...

Sinophobia: Racial hatred towards Chinese people.

Because many Asian countries (Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, etc), have similar phenotypical traits, lots of people who aren't even Chinese are being beaten to pulps by racist bigots as a result of this virus.

The Chinese gov't knew about this virus for up to a year prior and suppressed information about it to create a false sense of prosperity in their country. The Chinese government literally makes it illegal to critique the government. Doctors tried to spread the word of the virus, and they were literally jailed for doing so.

They also barely reformed their wet markets (which they should shut down at this point tbh) after the SARS outbreak. They knew it was a matter of time before this happened again, and did f*** all to stop it.

They also use nationalist sentiments and idiotic things like TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine, a multiple millennia year old and long-since debunked pseudoscience of the old world) to keep interest in the wet markets alive, saying that eating wild animals will "boost immunity", which is obviously bullshit. They're pretty much voluntarily putting their people at risk of infection to keep their GDP growing and their citizens docile.

There was an Indonesian kid in Los Angeles who got his s*** rocked in a subway station, and a girl in NYC got her teeth knocked out. I think she was Thai.
