Finally decided to go to B&N today before the sale ends. Ended up getting the Lady Eve upgrade and Le Petit Soldat.
I was planning to buy more films from other boutique sales this month, but i didn't foresee being hit with almost $1000 in veterinarian bills at 3 weeks ago
Didn't even get to go ham on Kino like I wanted to, and will have to settle with these 2 criterion blus as my total sale purchases this month 😔
All good man! I was sort of in the same position last year, so I know how it is. B&N November sale will be here before we know it,... start making that list now

Kiss Me Deadly deserves way crazier art
Just ordered Come And See on blu ray from the Criterion website. Couldn’t find it it anywhere else besides Amazon but the shipping from Amazon is like two months. Plus it’s more expensive on Amazon. Can’t wait to watch this.
Kiss Me Deadly deserves way crazier art
that crit logo with brass knuckle gets me tho

This can be said for so many of their releases over the past 2 years tbh. I swear the number of titles with awful artwork has been increasing so much. A year ago it was like once every other batch announcement — this year I think every single batch has had 1 or 2 box arts that range from underwhelming to just dumb as hell
Tf is their art department doing over there?

the contrast of the craziness of the film and the tameness of the art is ridiculous. i put it off for too long cause the art made it look generic
bros what are some french new classics?
french new wave?
typo but yeah
the best starting point is Breathless (1960)
then you may work your way to Godard's filmo with
You can get into Agnes Varda with Cleo from 5 to 7 (1962)
Anyways, other filmmakers can be either part of the Cahiers du Cinema dudes or just artsy fartsy with their own different kind of movement (which it's called Left Blank) like Alain Resnais with Hiroshima mon amour (1959) and Last Year at Marienbad (1961). Other filmmakers you can get into like Claude Chabrol, Eric Rohmer, Jacques Rivette and more like:
Also, a good resource: bfi.org.uk/news-opinion/news-bfi/lists/10-great-french-new-wave-films
Plus, if you ever approach deep cuts from any of these filmmakers as mentioned above, just approach it with caution
