Dave East got way more television placements and commercial label push from like, 2015-2019ish than a guy who makes his style of music typically does. My guess was that happened because he was very handsome, or maybe being handsome he got a lot of social media attention that inflated the label’s view of how his music would sell. Her music does very good still, but it reminded me of Jorja Smith, who gets way more social media attention than music listenership because of how gorgeous she is.
