I’d say the success of Obsession and Backrooms, and the flop of Mandalorian, marks the end of the “CGI Blockbuster” era.

Obviously Spiderman and Avengers will still perform really well this year, but it’s clear now that a recognizable IP isn’t enough anymore to sell tickets and generate buzz.
Studios can’t rely on nostalgia anymore . And audiences are looking for films that don’t spoon feed them everything

I think that has a lot to do with Gen Z getting older and becoming the main demographic for the theater

I told yall it was wrapping up and we would see rise of creators doing a lot with smaller budgets unique ideas or great execution. Godzilla minus one , soon zero , obsession, backrooms . S*** even hokum it’s nice to see one off movies that are original don’t beg for a universe with faces we don’t see as often

my dumbass ran to the bathroom when she duct taped the door and right after the guy won a billion dollars obvs got filled in on the plot gaps but any symbolism/dialogue i missed from that in case im not able to get a second watch

Score so under talked about was excellent . What they accomplished with a small budget and no star power besides a cameo .

People can try to downplay the direction, acting and story but the results they can’t

I don’t know what it is about this movie that has me still thinking about it so heavily but it really is an instant classic.

I was watching an interview with Curry and he said he's gonna keep using the same guy for all his movie soundtracks moving forward
