I think that Get Out becoming a critical darling with Oscar recognition and the It movies performing like MCU events showed large studios that horror should be treated seriously. Then Hereditary (and A24 in general) ushering in the “elevated horror” trend has led to a perfect storm where we are getting consistently high quality horror that’s also getting mainstream recognition.

This and weapons are both the hottest and most culturally dominant horrors in years and they’re both inspired by hereditary. Ari defo planted some babies with that one

And I thinks as more future directors age up into making stuff, more and more future horror directors will be citing that movie as a big one for them

I mean I wasn't over the moon about this movie but a lot of criticism i been seeing about it recently just seem far too nitpicky and people wanting the movie to be something other than horror
