How are they gonna do this in a way that’s not just ripping off blade runner
The story isn’t a rip on Blade Runner at all
Can't wait!!
What kind of comparison is that? If this ends up being Andor level then that’s f***ing awesome. It’s the best thing to come out of Star Wars since Empire.
Also, unpopular opinion, I think 2049 is boring as hell. The original is so much better.
Well yeah no s*** Phillip is basically the godfather of the Cyberpunk "genre" but that doesn't mean the story and the content of the show/movie itself will be based on Blade Runner. The game has several homages to him and Blade Runner
Have you played the game?
This some film Twitter ass s***.
Villeneuve stans are like TDK/Inception era Nolan stans.
And I like Dune. I thought it was really good.
2049? Eh. It looks good though. Not as good as the OG, but few films do, to be fair.
You snobby as hell lmaooooo
If you weren't so much like this you would know that this game was based off a Table Top RPG and inspired by the novel Hardwired
Ooooh sorry if I haven't read every cyberpunk book ever written
F*** outta here with your negative ass lmao
You haven't even engaged with the game itself just seen images probably and are like "yep this is gonna suck because it's not 100% original"
Newsflash: most pieces of media made by large companies in 2023 have influences
I did. I’ve read most of D***’s and Gibson’s work.
Something like Edgerunners, for instance, similarities are primarily aesthetic base, but CDRP’s take on the TTRPG does have many distinctive characteristics.
There’s some thematic sharing, for sure, but that’s often the case within the sci-fi genre as a whole, and cyberpunk itself is a subgenre of sci-fi, thus it’s inherently more specific with its setting and tropes.
Also, Strange Days is the second best cyberpunk movie.
The adaptation isn’t even being called Cyberpunk 2077 or even titled yet what are you talking about
The table top game itself was titled Cyberpunk 2020 and it was created in the 80s
What does that even mean?
Are you literally talking about the year subtitle?
Cyberpunk 2077 with its title was announced back in 2013.
What are you even arguing at this point?
Like, yeah, Cyberpunk is derivative of other works. No one is denying that. It’s literally named after an entire subgenre you goof.
People are excited because it’s a cool aesthetic with a lot of cool things in it, and has incredibly extensive lore to pull from that can create all kinds of stories.
Ain’t no one going into this with the thought of it turning out to be high art, or a wholly original work.

You’re telling me the game I’ve been playing starring Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves where I have to save the president from the bad part of town isn’t high art? 😱

Nah man, Bladerunner exists, therefor nobody can EVER do anything in the genre EVER again
