Whaaat I hate jay z and he got off his verse
Lol that wasn’t an amazing Jay verse
the concept of the song is about being reckless, doing things impulsively knowing that you're already on thin nice "i got priors", and following your worst instincts anyway.
who more apropo of the moment to feature on this song than dababy? conceptually works way better than hov. classic kanye move.
also the hov verse didnt really fit in and was pretty underwhelming. dababy killed his feature and remained on topic.
having said all that f*** dababy
should've just kept both
Lol that wasn’t an amazing Jay verse
to be fair, if he hates Jay Z he may not have a high bar for him.
Objectively DaBaby's verse was a lot better but he's a c***
Hov's verse was more important since it was their first feature in almost 10 years
should've just kept both
This is the only answer. With how long the album is (not complaining, been waiting for Kanye to make long songs again for a min) already, why not keep both verses? Same with Cudi verses
I prefer Hov but I also can't diminish DaBaby's talent, he did his thing.
But does anyone really think Kanye would've put DaBaby on this song if DaBaby wasn't so controversial right now? That's the issue, Ye's need to be controversial overshadows what was already a good song. No one listened to Jail at LP1 or 2 and said, "wow you know what this song really needs? DaBaby".
IMO Kanye and Hov reuniting on an album about Ye finding peace and 'going home' works better conceptually given their history.

personally i didnt understand what the song was about until i heard dababy's verse. i thought it was a pretty shallow "im gonna go wild" party anthem
Symbolic on the return of the duo Ye/Hov was beautiful, it was ye going home.
This Dababy verse is not bad, but not on this song. You don’t replace Hov, especially with a dumbass like this
the symbolism of ye and hov being on a track together wouldn't last. its a great shock factor full-circle moment but when the albums been out for 5 years what youre left with is whether its a good song or not.
and hov's verse outside of the "return of the throne" line just wasnt very special. but not blaming him for that either it was literally sent in hours before lol
Like it was cool to see them reunite on the track but you could tell this was like a one take and done sort of situation. the energy wasn't there and that's no disrespect to jay
not me with all of these sins, casting stones
this might be the return of the throne.

I got what I needed out of that feature just hearing it at the LP

Agreed, even the throne reunion being more important to the culture
