Lines two and three are exactly what I’ve been getting at. The antisocial element of hip-hop — rejection of the social strictures of what I’ve been calling polite society but what is actually, let’s be honest, White society — has always been at its core, and a a large part of its appeal. But I disagree that it will never change. It already is changing. People who fund and support it want their anger and disaffection to be channeled in appropriate directions and definitely not inappropriate ones.
