The Luka and KP matchup is really a nightmare for so many teams for so many reasons. It's special and it already looks really good 2 games in at ages 20 & 24. Imagine what this might look like 4 years from now. Hell, imagine what this might look like 4 months from now.

Marc Stein Mark Cuban "urged" Mavericks GM Nico Harrison not to trade Luka Doncic
Per NBA insider Marc Stein, Cuban "urged" Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison not to trade Luka Dončić to the Los Angeles Lakers in return for Anthony Davis. According to Stein, Cuban's pleading with Harrison came too late.
"By the time Cuban found out about the Luka-for-AD trade, it was too late," Stein wrote. "Patrick Dumont never approached for advice. Sources say Cuban urged Harrison not to go ahead with the swap ... only to find out that the deal had already been sealed with the Lakers by verbal handshake."
A lot of people speculated that if Mark Cuban was in control of the team, he would not have traded Luka. Well Marc Stein seems to have confirmed this. Also apparently Cuban was "hurt" about not being in the loop. He also explains why Cuban was not seen in his customary seats anymore.
"In truth he has clearly been stung, league sources say, by the lack of advance warning he had on the deal — yet another harsh signal that he has been pushed farther and farther away from the front office than he ever imagined after his very public belief at the time of the sale of the team in November 2023 that he would retain oversight of basketball operations," Stein wrote.
Per Stein, Cuban was "forbidden this season by the NBA to take his customary seat behind the Mavericks' bench at road games." Cuban also told Stein in November that "he did not have the say-so over basketball matters that he anticipated when the sale was agreed to with the Adelson and Dumont families."

Marc Stein Nico Harrison refused to give Luka $350M supermax deal due to his on/off-court discipline
Marc Stein goes into detail on Mavs reasoning for the Luka Doncic trade :
“It was largely Harrison, who has increasingly believed since the Mavericks’ one-sided loss to the Celtics in the NBA Finals, that Dončić: Would not improve his commitment to conditioning, his off-court dietary discipline. Would not improve as a leader or culture-setter. Would not improve his well-chronicled comportment issues with referees. Would not be able to stay healthy as he got older. And thus could not, after the Mavericks and Dončić grappled with these issues since Harrison arrived in June 2021, be given the five-year supermax deal worth nearly $350 million that he was expecting in July.”
