This all the way imo— brown sugar more slick sounding, voodoo is more organic. Writing / vox on brown sugar is more literal, more clarity. Voodoo’s is more slurred, more abstract. BS is great but just feels more like a bunch of really nice songs, Voodoo feels like a musical achievement to me. Always felt that the album doesn’t really hit its stride until Send it On, though.

Brown sugar has stuff like Higher, When we get by, lady, etc etc that are all personal classics but s*** like The Root, Untitled, Africa are just like. How did yall do this. They were on some s*** in that room
