Yooooooo
The whole time I’m listening to Aquamarine I couldn’t help repeating “this is my GOAT” about BT over and over, absolutely amazing
Anyone else feel like the mixing isn’t that great on some of these tracks tho? I felt like I was having trouble hearing the verses sometimes
Maybe it was just cause I was listening in my car though

I know what you're talking about but I'm used to it with Black Thought at this point...he's been doing distorted or live performance sounding vocals since early Roots albums...IMO it gives it a raw, grittier sound but can be hard to make out some words here and there I suppose

It was actually on Mike’s verse where I was like man the beat is just way louder in the mix than the verse

I agree there could have used better mixing...really good project aside from that though
Initial thoughts:
Very very impressed. I do have to say, besides the intro and outro, the solo tracks are the weakest tracks by a country mile. Not necessarily cuz of Thought, I actually think the solo tracks have the worst beats tbh. Really not vibing with Close To Famous or the title track, maybe they’ll grow on me.
The intro track is absolutely stunning though. Excluding that, my favourites are probably Saltwater and The Darkest Part.
The mixing is very off-kilter, but it doesn’t bother me too much. The only time it does is on the DOOM track, feel like the lo-fi mix on there makes it just sound poor quality rather than add to the aesthetic (like it does on other tracks).
This is a weird complaint, but it almost feels like the true ending to the album is missing. As good as it is, I feel like Violas and Lupitas sounds more like a penultimate track rather than a fitting closer, especially with Saltwater coming before it. I think Aquamarine would’ve been an amazing outro.
Probably like a 7/10 for me at the moment, definitely a grower though. Also DOOM has the best feature to no one’s shock.
