other than Cyanide, the album really just wasn't as good as Freudian. And the writing took a steep decline from Freudian.

i disagree. i dont think the writing took a decline i think its jus a different direction, jus more loose and freestyle than freudian
Really?
it's not that he's boring, but it's like. He's very....just...like there.
You know how there's like singers that technically and across the board, are just...GREAT singers. Like, you can't deny that vocally, they're just great. People like him and H.E.R. I'd put up in that category of just...technically great singers. They can make harmonies and they can make melodies and do a lot of just...great singer stuff.
But their material and what they're saying is just so....just there. Boring is a bit too strong of a word, but it's like...maybe "so perfect" to the point that it starts to kinda just fade into the background. It's the other spectrum of the Bruno Mars argument.
Like y'know how singers like D'Angelo were "perfect" but their voices along with the material they were singing were so unique and the way they utilized vocal arrangements on their songs were so different that it captivated the listener.
You don't hear that with singers like Daniel (a lot). When he does, you get joints like this
Which to this day is my favorite Danny song. Makes sense, it sounds like a D'angelo song (and I know that's one of his big influences, which goes to my point)
I think Freudian kinda put a lot on him. That album might be one of my fav R&B albums of the last decade. But I think Case Study 01 kinda showed what I mean about Daniel. People wanna blame "cancel culture" and all that but when in actuality, the album was just aight. It was very samey and a lot of the songs sounded the same and slow to the point that s*** started to just fade into the background.
Cyanide being the only joint that really blew up from that album solidifies my point.
And that post came from a fan that doesn't think maybe more than 3 people in the "R&B mainstream" wrote anything as compelling as Freudian title track last decade.
So listening to Case Study 01 was that much more jarring imo.
Him and SZA
Nah sza not boring lol
King back
dumb opinions don't make or break an artist for me (nor most people in general)
but yeah, he's not a bad artist. Just, unremarkable for someone with as much vocal skill as he has. If we wasn't in such a "weak" era of R&B (a lot of niggas (non gender specific) don't sing from they chest), we'd probably look at daniel a lil' different.
most boring rnb singer out
I was having trouble sleeping and I consulted my doctor and he prescribed me Daniel Caesar’s debut
