This what you get when you do too many psychedelics
AVY to post ratio proceeding at acceptable levels, carry on
I saw him yesterday at pitchfork music festival and he didn’t remember 80% of his lyrics and kept stopping songs because of that. He said he didn’t practice his songs the past year cuz he got an air fryer. 🤦♂️ He said he has an album coming soon but I don’t even know what to expect from that. Conclusion, if you are going to see him live this year it’s prob best to skip it
Wat u know bout Danny brown old head lol
i was at that one as well, this show was very similar to that one except he was practically doing stand up comedy in between the songs. idk what’s making people hate so hard on what was a good set
uknowwhatimsayin? or whatever it was called, he said he intended it to be like a comedy, like the dirty laundry video vibe
Sounds like my Mos Def experience. Stopping songs way too early, scrolling through his laptop half assed and picking random songs only to continue f***ing about. At one point he hugged the massive speaker on the side for about 5 minutes. Funny as f*** in hindsight but a shame thats what i think of when i think of Mos now
I saw Dababy yesterday at the rolling loud music festival and he didn’t remember 80% of his lyrics and kept stopping songs because of that. I'd much rather watch a rapper actually rap and forget their lyrics than watch a rapper do a glorified lip syncing set

you know there are middle grounds between extremes

it is absolutely insane how little we expect from rappers in terms of live performances vs legitimately every other artist in any other genre

That's true, I'm just saying. It sucks that Danny performed so poorly but overall he's a great live performer. I hope this is a one off situation for him
he performed at the Gathering of the Juggalos this year and blew up on the crowd halfway through his set for not being hype enough...was also forgetting his lyrics and ended up storming off stage saying he'll never perform there again...apologized afterwards and said he was just worked up but still

I really don't get it. Like I understand that a lot of modern rap is so dependent on the studio but still, there's gotta be a way to make it work beyond just playing the literal studio track and throwing some ad libs in here and there

I've been to good and bad rap concerts and it really shocks me how much of a mainstream modern rap phenomena this is. I've seen artists like The Roots or Common live and they always actually perform everything. I've also been to underground shows with people like Lil Tracy or Lil Ugly Mane and even they actually perform, and there's a really low bar for those cheaper priced underground shows! I can't imagine what would happen if a big pop artist like say, Adele, came out and just jumped up and down fistpumping on stage while her album played in the background. It would be like a national story shaming her. This isnt to say every other genre has good performers, but people actively get outraged when performances are bad elsewhere. Performers in modern mainstream hip hop are just expected to be a live viewing of the artist mixed with a listening party, generally with the artist not even being sober. It's insane.
